School fined after pupil's band saw injury - June 2020

A pupil at a school in Scotland sustained severe cuts and tendon damage while using a band saw in a technology workshop, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) reports.


The school pleaded guilty to breaching Section 3(1) of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and was find £3,350. The HSE's investigation found that the school had failed to make a suitable and sufficient risk assessment.
